I’m sure that most have you have heard of Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert, due to the huge amount of hype that surrounded it when it came out.
Despite all the chatter, I didn’t really feel that I wanted to read this book. The main issue what that I don’t normally read autobiographical or [...]

Though in general, things are still pretty rough around the edges, today has been a pretty decent day so far. It’s absolutely beautiful outside, so I’ve been sitting and reading and writing in my screened-in gazebo. I am a little sore from all the exercise and yoga that I made myself do yesterday, but considering [...]

I went to see my acupuncturist yesterday, and she told me that I was so stressed out that it was stressing her out! That makes three medical professionals in the last week that have told me I am too stressed right now. The thing is, I don’t actually have anything to be stressed about!
One of [...]

For months after I was diagnosed, I went to various kinds of medical professionals, and tried a number of different treatments. However, it wasn’t until I tried acupuncture that I noticed any real positive impact.
Before I tried acupuncture, the concept terrified me. I was already in so much pain, why would I let someone [...]

Five hours in a car + fibromyalgia = ouch (especially because I kept falling asleep in the most uncomfortable positions ever. I mean really, how could I possibly have fallen asleep with half my face pressed against the window and my hip smushed against a seat belt buckle?! Oh but I did.)
Anyway, happy to be [...]

So if you’re wondering why I suddenly disappeared, it’s because I went away for a few days, and unexpectedly had no internet! I obviously have internet again, but I’m visiting with family, so my posts may be a bit sporadic for a while.
If you’ll remember my post from other day, my regular doctor left [...]

I woke up really sore today. My lower back is still causing big problems, and as a result, my muscles were really tight when I got up this morning. When I am in a lot of pain, my whole body tenses up (to stop myself from hurting more by moving). If this happens all night, [...]

I called my doctor’s office today to book an appointment to renew some prescriptions, and found out that my doctor doesn’t work there anymore! I’m upset because I was really happy with him, and felt that he was understanding about my fibromyalgia.
Having an invisible illness can make interaction with medical professionals difficult and upsetting. [...]

Hello everyone, sorry I was silent all weekend. I spent Saturday at Book Camp Toronto 2010, which was a blast, but was a VERY LONG day! So Sunday was spent lying down, though it also brought me some exciting news: I am the new vice chair of InvisAbilities!
InvisAbilities is a new organization at my [...]

The other day I finished reading The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. If you haven’t read this book, you need to. It really is that simple. It was absolutely wonderful. The only bad thing about it was that I ended up reading late into the night when I meant to sleeping!
The [...]
