Somebody Read This Book!!

As eager as I am to get back to resting, I HAVE to post about this book that I finished a few days ago. I heard about Fall by Colin McAdam when it was shortlisted for this year’s Giller Prize, and happened to come across it in the library earlier this week. I read the book in two days.

Fall is a compelling and intricate look into the relationship between a group of boys at a boarding school in Ottawa, and their connection to the beautiful Fallon. Fallon, or Fall, is the girlfriend of Julius, and the coveted unrequited love of Noel. Narration of the story alternates between the two boys, and McAdam has done a exquisite job rendering the unique personality of each one.

This novel is a suspenseful and harrowing examination of desire, memory and guilt, and it is hard to put down. I am dying for someone else to read it so I can talk to them about it! So put on your reading glasses and start turning those pages!!
