Your Personal Weathervane

Good news – I’m actually feeling quite a bit better today! This is both good and a little bit bad. It is good for obvious reasons, but frustrating because it seems that a large part of why I was feeling so awful yesterday was the weather being so bad. Yesterday it stormed and poured rain all day, and I felt awful. Today is sunny and nice, and I feel a whole lot better.

From what I’ve heard, most people with fibromyalgia are affected by the weather. When it is cold or particularly rainy, symptoms get worse. For some mysterious reason, I seem to be more connected to the weather than anyone I’ve talked to. I really have no idea why, but I must say that I don’t enjoy it.

I’ve found the change of seasons to be a particularly hard time for anyone with fibromyalgia, and the transitions in and out of winter seem to be even worse. Because it is still May, and the weather seems to be a little unstable, I’m hoping that we are still in a transition period. If that is the case, then hopefully things will get better when we move more solidly into spring and summer. Only time will tell.

The variation of symptoms between fibromyalgia patients is part of the reason that there is so little concrete information known about it. Each person has a different combination of symptoms that affect them differently, and the pattern of their illness will usually change over time. I do not feel the same level or combination of symptoms every day. On top of that, I’ve had new symptoms appear after a period of years without them. What this means for fibromyalgia patients is that you are the best judge of what is right for you.

Ok, I’m off to enjoy this sunny day!
