It’s Ok, I’m Much Less Grouchy Today :)
When I last wrote here, I was quite upset and unhappy. Yesterday was a lot better (until the evening came with its high pressure headache causing systems!). Also – did anyone else feel the earthquake?! That was pretty random – especially for the suburbs of Ontario!
I was talking to a friend with fibromyalgia this morning and we both had the same complaints: we couldn’t sleep last night, and we were super stiff and sore when we woke up (stupid weather). I was begrudgingly convincing myself to do some yoga to loosen me up when DING DONG: my yoga dvd’s arrived!! Suddenly I couldn’t wait to try them (this is when my mom chimed in with the truthful, and unfortunately necessary reminder “Don’t do more than one today! Remember your abs.”) I rolled my eyes and hastily pushed aside my plans for spending the whole day doing yoga (oooh that would have ended badly!)
I’ve decided that as I do each new dvd, I’ll let you know about it! I ordered four (one of which I had done before). Today I decided (after much deliberation) to try Yoga Bliss Hips (Kundalini Yoga by Ana Brett and Ravi Singh). I decided to do this one because it was shorter than some of the other dvd’s, and I didn’t feel like I had excessive amounts of stamina. Also, my mother suggested I try it because “you could use some bliss today!” (Mother knows best :P )
The workout was quite different from others that I had done before, but I felt great after! The routine is meant to focus on opening and loosening your hips (which store a lot of physical and emotional tension) as well as to take you through a number of anti-depression exercises.
I must say, I was a little embarrassed at how inept I was at some of the movements, but I’m excited to keep working at it. Overall, it was fairly intense, because I was stretching and using muscles that I don’t normally, but the payoff was well worth it. I managed to loosen up my tight body and feel happy and bright :) (Though I’m still struggling to figure out what on earth I can eat – but that’s a tale for another day [or was that the tale I told last time....?])

Bring the DVDs when you come! You can laugh at me trying to do them…
